The project will replace deteriorated timber docks and float systems; repair the existing dock house, sail shed and boat ramp; and add an interior ramp between the lobby and locker room, according to DCR officials.
Also, the project will create a fully accessible dock space and enhance access throughout the building to better accommodate people with disabilities.
The project is expected to be completed in the spring.
In addition to state funding, DCR partners, including the Lawrence and Lillian Solomon Fund, the Mugar Foundation, the Esplanade Association (TEA) and Community Boating, committed more than $300,000 to the project.
