More than three weeks after Hubway got underway, the future of stations for Boston’s bike-share program on Beacon Hill remains uncertain.
Nicole Freedman, the city’s director of bicycle programs, told the Times last week that Hubway was awaiting approval from the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) on two proposed locations – one on the Esplanade at Beacon and Arlington streets, the second at Charles Circle – and would move forward with installation of stations at those sites immediately after receiving permission from the state.
DCR spokesperson SJ Port indicated that the state wasn’t holding up the installation of stations in the neighborhood, however. “DCR has been talking to Hubway about possible partnerships, but we’re only in the discussion stages at this point,” Port said
Meanwhile, Freedman said the city is also considering a third station location at Cambridge Street and Blossom streets, which was suggested by members of the Beacon Hill Civic Association and the West End Civic Association.
‘We have to find a location on Cambridge Street that works, but we may hold off on that at this time, Freedman said.

It is ridiculous that there are no hubway stations near Beacon Hill. There is a major bike path on the river and lots of attractions over by Charles street. If the Longwood area has four Hubway stations with all the ambulances, people and hospitals around, you can't use that as an excuse for not having them around Mass General Hospital.
What is holding up the Cambridge Street at Blossom Street station? Beacon Hill is one the most dense areas of the city. Hubway needs to install a station in Beacon Hill ASAP.
