Coat Drive: Beacon Hill and Back Bay Residents Asked to Help Their Neighbors by Donating to ‘coats for Kids’ Drive

As yet another brutally cold winter fast approaches, many Beacon Hill and Back Bay families are bracing for a winter season without warm coats.

This is why Anton’s  Cleaners’ “Coats for Kids” program is once again calling upon the neighborhoods to  help make  this winter a little warmer for children, teens and adults throughout eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.

Anton’s has just kicked off its 17th annual Coats for Kids winter coat drive with a  goal of collecting 60,000 coats in good, wearable condition  before Jan. 8,  2012. In Boston, coats can be dropped off at the Anton’s  Cleaners store at 37  Charles St. and 203 Mass. Ave.

Beacon Hill store manager Katie Solari says  many people have already started bringing in coats.

“Every coat donated will help keep our neighbors warm this winter,”

Solari said.

“Whereas the Coats for Kids drive is a community-based campaign, every year we rely heavily on the individual  communities to help make it a success,” said Charles A. Anton, president of  Anton’s Cleaners.”

Once collected and cleaned by Anton’s, coats will be distributed free of  charge through the Coats for Kids Distribution Partners  network, which includes organizations such as Massachusetts Community Action Programs (MASSCAP), Community Giving Tree, Interfaith Social Services, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Rosie’s Place, Mental Health Association of Greater Lowell, Catholic Charities, Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, Children’s Services of Roxbury and East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, to name a  few.
