This month, the West End Library, 151 Cambridge Street will undergo building improvements.
A new roof will be constructed, ,prompting the temporary closure of the library beginning at 5pm on Friday, August 10.
“Roof work will start on Monday, August 13 and is expected to be completed in just under three weeks,” according to Helen Bender Branch Librarian.
The library is expected to reopen on Wednesday, August 29 at 10am. In addition to the new roof, the library will have a new boiler installed, have some exterior paint work completed and will be connected to the Boston Public Library’s networked energy management system, which will allow for temperature control to be handled by headquarters in Copley Square. “This will avoid dispatching a technician to make changes,” Bender noted.
During the temporary closure period, library users are encouraged to use the nearby North End Library, 25 Parmenter Street or the Central Library in Copley Square, 700 Boylston Street, as well as any of the Boston Public Libraries in other locations throughout the city.
As a result of the work, the following programs have been cancelled, August 15 + 22 Films and August 27 Hypertension Screenings and Blood Pressure Checks.
