Democrats in Boston’s Ward 5, which includes the neighborhoods of Beacon Hill and Back Bay and portions of the Fenway, Bay Village and Chinatown, will caucus at the Community Church of Boston, located at 565 Boylston St. in the Back Bay, on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m.
The caucus will elect delegates to represent the ward at the Democratic State Party Convention, which is scheduled for June 1 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.
Any registered Democrat living in the Ward can attend the caucus, and those who registered before Dec. 31, 2012, can vote at the caucus and be elected as delegates.
“Downtown Democrats in Boston’s Ward 5 are widely lauded as being among the most active in the state, and the caucus is a great opportunity for Democrats to get involved on issues that matter to Boston residents,” said Josh Dawson, chair of the
Boston Ward 5 Democratic Committee, which will host the caucus. “Delegates selected at the caucus will have the important duty to represent all Democrats in the ward as decisions are made in Lowell about the party’s platform and rules.”
The Boston Ward 5 Democratic Committee is responsible for conducting the business of the Massachusetts Democratic Party within Boston’s Ward 5, an area including portions of the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Fenway, Bay Village and Chinatown. The group takes pride in its slogan, “Boston Democrats in Action,” and aggressively supports candidates and causes it believes are in the best interests of its constituents.
