The owner/occupants of a single-family home at 7 Smith Court will appear before the Beacon Hill Civic Association’s Zoning and Licensing Committee, to present a proposal to construct a head house. This structure would allow walk-up access to a re-built roof deck on the 2 ½-story building. The committee will meet Wednesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. at 74 Joy Street.
The head house, which is not visible from a public way, would accommodate a staircase and landing area to allow access to the roof deck via a sliding glass door. According to ISD, it would add an additional 48 square feet to the building, thus requiring a FAR variance. The applicant states that the proposed head house will provide safe access to the roof deck and will not interfere with the light and views of neighboring homes.
Neighbors are encouraged to attend this meeting. If you are unable to attend but would like to express an opinion, please call (617.227.1922) or send an email to the BHCA office ([email protected]) prior to the meeting. Additional information regarding design plans and updates on this matter are posted on the BHCA website at www.bhcivic.org.
