New Cupcake Shop to Open on Charles St.

A new cupcake shop is coming to the Charles Street storefront formerly occupied by Isabelle’s CurlyCakes.

Courtney Forrester, owner of Sweet, said the Boston-based chain’s sixth location at 81 Charles St. would offer 20 varieties of cupcakes baked fresh each day at its Hyde Park bakery, as well as a selection of coffee and other beverages.

“We’re local and we’re really excited to be on Charles Street,” Forrester said.  “We consider it to be an important street in Boston, and we really appreciate the historical nature of our space on Beacon Hill.”

Sweet also offers delivery, which Forrester said has already garnered its other locations, including two stores in the Back Bay, a loyal customer-base among Beacon Hill residents, as well as staff and patients from Massachusetts General Hospital.

“We hope that by opening up on Charles Street, we’ll be a little more convenient to them,” she said.

At the end of each business day, Sweet donates leftover cupcakes from all its locations to Lovin’ Spoonfuls, a Brookline-based non-profit “that facilitates the recovery and distribution of healthy, perishable food that would otherwise be discarded,” according to the organization’s Web site.

Forrester said an opening date for Sweet on Charles Street remians tentative, pending the city permitting process, approval of a change in signage and renovations to the existing retail space.
