The city’s Board of Appeals voted last Tuesday to grant zoning relief to the Somerset Club allowing it to fill in its exterior courtyard for the purposes of creating a chef’s office and storage space.
The Somerset Club, a private organization located at 42-43 Beacon St., intends to enclose an approximately 458 square-foot area currently located in an enclosed courtyard, which is behind a neighboring condominium building at 41 Beacon St. This work would take place in tandem with renovations to the club’s kitchen facilities.
The Beacon Hill Civic Association Zoning and Licensing Committee voted not to oppose the city granting the zoning relief for the project at its Oct. 1 meeting on the condition that the applicant enter into a “good neighbor” agreement.
