The Sheahan and Kennedy families of Hancock Street in Beacon Hill co-hosted a successfully spooky Halloween Decorating Party last Saturday, October 25, from 3-5 p.m. Approximately 50 friends and neighbors (and a few tourists!) cycled through to share warm cider and treats, show off their Halloween costumes, carve pumpkins, play in fog bubbles, and adorn their homes with dozens of ghost and spider themed decorations. As an additional safety measure, organizers were able to obtain a free Play Street Permit to close the street to traffic. More information for residents about how to host a block party can be found through Boston’s Office of Civic Organizing at https://www.boston.gov/departments/transportation/how-host-block-party
As a counterpart event, “Halloween Un-decorating and Cleanup” is scheduled for Hancock Street on November 1, at 3 p.m. beginning at 38 Hancock. Volunteers needed! This effort is being spearheaded by the BHCA Block Captains for lower Hancock Street: John Allario and Katherine Kennedy.
