The Esplanade Play Space

The Department of Conservation and Recreation plans for a Esplanade Play Space for five- to 12-year-olds were released last week.

The drawings and architect’s sketches of the proposed play space reveal the physical wonderland for kids to be situated on 10,000 square feet of land.

The $1.5 million cost for the play space is entirely privately funded and includes an endowment for maintenance and programming.

Unfortunately, today’s public finances require more private funding to maintain public spaces.

We are fortunate that we have both people and organizations that are ready to step up to help build and above all establish an endowment to care for these new projects for years to come.

If all goes according to schedule, 25 community stakeholders including the Esplanade Association, will attend a ribbon cutting in July.
