Nicandra ʺNikkiʺ Louise Nassar

Attorney and Volunteer, Of Boston, formerly of North Andover

Nicandra ʺNikkiʺ Louise Nassar of Boston, formerly of North Andover, died peacefully on January 26, 2013 after a courageous and long battle with breast cancer.

She was born in Lawrence on August 26, 1955, daughter of Beverly (DeCesare) and James J. Nassar, Jr. of Haverhill and attended Presentation of Mary Academy in Methuen, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and received her law degree from the New England School of Law, Boston.  She was admitted to practice law in Massachusetts in 1983 and enjoyed a successful career providing legal counsel to a wide range of businesses, from start-ups to publicly held companies.  Nicandra specialized in providing in-house legal counsel on a consulting basis, becoming a trusted and valued advisor to many clients.  She was a true leader who gained the respect of both colleagues and friends.

For more than 15 years, Nikki was a dedicated volunteer with the Network for Patients and Families,a program of the Mass General Cancer Center. She provided peer support to many people living with cancer, and also helped plan the annual patient and family conferences.

Nicandra enjoyed traveling and maintained dual citizenship in the United States and Italy. She loved the ocean, especially the shores of Cape Cod, where she shared many wonderful vacations with family and friends. Because of her unique way of making everyone she encountered feel special. Nicandra leaves many, many loving relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by three brothers; Kenyon of Haverhill, Robert of New York City and John of Louisville, KY.  She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Ada (Moulton) and Dr. Nicandro F. DeCesare, and her paternal grandparents, Mary (Brox) and James Nassar.

A celebration of her life was held on Thursday, January 31st, at the West Parish Cemetery Chapel, Andover, MA.
