The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) opened construction bids Wednesday for a project to revitalize the Charles Eliot Memorial on the Charles River Esplanade.
Through its Partnership Matching Funds Program, DCR has partnered with The Esplanade Association (TEA) to underwrite the estimated $388,040 construction cost of the project. Its scope includes “parkland renovation including earthwork, irrigation, landscaping, utility and drainage improvements, granite restoration and installation, paving, and parkland furnishings,” according to DCR’s invitation for bids.
DCR will hold a pre-bidding conference for prospective bidders at Community Boating, Inc., 21 David Mugar Way, on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 10 a.m., and the deadline for bids is Wednesday, April 10, at 11 a.m. (Visit www.mass.gov/dcr or call 617-626-1250 for more information).
DCR mandates that the designated contactor complete the project within 150 calendar days of a notice to proceed, or face “Damages in the amount of $2,000 per day.”
Meanwhile, the DCR Web site indicates it will soon issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for food-concessions for the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade.
