At the culmination of a nine-week course offered by Beacon Hill Seminars (BHS) and spearheaded by Tweed Roosevelt, “Tales of TR-The Private Life and Public Career of Theodore Roosevelt,” Doris Kearns Goodwin, author of “The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism,” addressed Beacon Hill Seminars members on Theodore Roosevelt’s relationship with the press in the Golden Age of Journalism.
Goodwin traced how Roosevelt welcomed the press corps into the White House and used them to generate public support for his policies and counter the political influence prevailing at the turn of the century.
Tweed Roosevelt, a great grandson of TR and a Beacon Hill resident, is seen with Doris Kearns Goodwin, presidential biographer and historian.
