‘Let’s keep our eyes on the prize’

Dear Editor:

As a 40-plus-year resident, I’ve found most folks walking the Hill aren’t looking intently down. Their eyes are on the interesting architecture, beautiful trees, doorways and plantings.

Unfortunately, they are also looking increasingly at historic facades defaced by ugly fire alarm beacons and rooflines sprouting satellite dishes and heat exchanging units.

I suggest the Beacon Hill Civic Association and Beacon Hill Architectural Commission focus some attention on these pernicious problems in our neighborhood, rather than objecting endlessly to the use of some modern, but not unsightly materials in ADA-compliant curb ramps.
