BHAC Agenda

The Beacon Hill Architectural Commission will hold a public hearing on Thursday, November 20 at 4:00 P.M. in Room 801, Boston City Hall

Subject of the hearing will be applications for Certificates of Appropriateness on the agenda below, review of architectural violations, and such business as may come before the commission, in accordance with Ch. 616 of the Acts of 1955, as amended. Applications are available for public inspection during business hours at the offices of the Environment Department. Applicants or their representatives are advised to attend, unless indicated otherwise below. Sign language interpreters are available upon request.

After 5:30 p.m., enter and exit City Hall at the Dock Square entrance on Congress Street (across from Faneuil Hall).

4:30 PM  – Application 15.201 BH Applicant – 1 Chestnut Street (continued review) Donald Ryan (contractor): Replace 3 wood 8/8 windows in kind; introduce additional window at front facing dormer (visible from Walnut Street)

4:45 PM – Application 15.600 BH Applicant – 14 Otis Place William Alfond (owner): Renovation of rear yard, to include construction of garden wall and fence, installation of brick pavers, etc.

 5:00 PM – Application 15.611 BH Applicant – 78 Beacon Street Richard Pelletier (window contractor): Replace 4 wood 1/1 windows with wood, triple insulated glass replacements

5:15 PM – Application 15.613 BH Applicant: – 59 Charles Street Dan Greenfield (owner): Install folding (scissor action) metal security grates on two doors

Administrative Review/Approval: In order to expedite the review process, the commission has delegated the approval of certain work items, such as those involving ordinary maintenance and repair, restoration or replacement, or which otherwise have a minimal impact on a building’s appearance, to the staff pending ratification at its monthly public hearing. Having been identified as meeting these eligibility criteria and all applicable guidelines, the following applications will be approved at this hearing:

BH Application 15.510 37 Beacon Street: Replace 3 wood 6/6 windows in kind and 3 wood 8/8 windows in kind

BH Application 15.494 51 Beacon Street: Paint front door black and wood paneled entry gray; replace door hardware; scrape and repaint ironwork and rear gate black

BH Application 15.606 4 Cedar Lane Way: Replace window shutters in kind; repair and repaint entry in kind

BH Application 15.607 566 Charles Street: Install fascia and hanging blade signs

 BH Application 15.590 18 Hancock Street: Repair copper gutters and downspout; install new copper downspout

Application 15.512 14 Louisburg Square: Repair and repaint shutters

BH Application 15.588 85 Myrtle Street: Repair masonry sills and lintels; repair brick wall; spot repointing (all work on Revere St elevation)
