Stand by your Guns Commissioner-Fingerprinting is a Public Safety Issue

Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans’ attempt to have all Uber and Lyft drivers provide fingerprints for public safety reasons is completely justified.

If the 6,000 Boston cab drivers have to provide fingerprints, there is no reason why other transportation service drivers should do the same.

Fingerprints can be used in many ways, especially to reveal driving history of employees.

While companies claim to do their own background checks and standing by them, customers would probably feel safer with police doing the checking.

Uber has said it could pull out of the state if fingerprint checks are required. Sounds like a threat!

Not to worry, another company will appear to protect its customers public safety.

Stand by your guns Commissioner because you are right, public safety has always been a Boston priority and that should never be compromised.
