Obviously, the new City of Boston ordinance regarding the speed limit on city streets from 30 mph to 25 mph will prevent more accidents, injuries and deaths but only if there is adequate enforcement on a regular basis.
Public safety concerns are the main reason a reduce speed limit was enacted and only strict enforcement of the bill can slam the brakes on careless speeders who continuously threaten harming pedestrians and themselves.
The cure, substantial fines, loss of license and other punishments that relate to the new city law are implemented if the speed limit is to work.
The Mayor and the City Council deserve credit for adopting this measure.
Only time will tell the effectiveness of the new regulation.
