The Friends of the Myrtle Street Playground kick off its summer programming on Thursday, June 14, at 4 p.m., with a visit from the owners of Sweet Georgia P’s organic farm in Scituate.
Former Beacon Hill residents Joe and Rebecca Pimentel will be on hand with live baby chicks, eggs and seedlings to help neighborhood children learn about small farm animals and starting a little garden. Neighbors will also have the opportunity to sign up for their weekly organic produce farm share, which delivers to the neighborhood weekly from July to September. More information on the farm is available online at www.sweetgeorgiap.com.
Programming continues at the playground on Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. throughout the summer, including Tilly the Clown on June 21; Jungle Jim on June 28; children’s musician Charlie Hope on July 12; children’s musician Bronwyn Bird on July 19; Dani Urencio’s “Art in the Playground” on July 26; a visit from a Boston Police car on Aug. 2; a visit from a Boston Fire truck on Aug. 9; bubbles and face painting by Baja Painting on Aug. 16; and “Water Day” and J.P.
