75 on Cambridge – the newest addition to the burgeoning 75 Chestnut restaurant chain – is slated to open on the former site of Grampy’s gas station at 209 Cambridge St. in the fall of 2014.
“It gives us an opportunity to take this emerging brand we have to other side of Beacon Hill and attract customers from Massachusetts General Hospital, Charles River Park and the hotels nearby,” said Thomas A. Kershaw, owner of the Hampshire House Corporation, which operates Hampshire House, Cheers Beacon Hill, Cheers Faneuil Hall Marketplace, 75 Chestnut, and 75 on Liberty Wharf.
Hampshire House Corporation has struck a deal with Boston-based C. Talanian Realty Co. Inc. to lease a first-floor space in a five-story office building that will soon break ground at the Cambridge Street site. The restaurant and bar would have a seating capacity of between 120 and 130 people, and follow the same concept as 75 Chestnut and 75 on Liberty Wharf – the waterfront location that opened last fall.
Kershaw said Hampshire House Corporation intends to present its plans to the Beacon Civic Association (BHCA) Zoning and Licensing Committee before the city-permitting process begins for the project.
