A Boston developer filed new plans with the city last week to redevelop the Government Center Garage into a sprawling 2.4 million square-foot, mixed-use complex.
In a June 21 letter of intent submitted to the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA), Boston-based HYM Investment Group LLC outlined its proposal to build “a multi-phased and multi-story development project for residential, office, retail, transportation and hotel uses” on the site of the existing 11-story garage near City Hall.
The applicant is seeking relief from the Boston Zoning Codes for the proposed project, which supersedes plans filed for the site in 2008, the letter states.
According to published reports, HYM – a firm headed by Former BRA Director Thomas O’Brien – took over as the project developer last year after Boston’s Raymond Property Company failed to move forward with a controversial plan to build two skyscrapers on the site.
