Young Professionals Recognize Outstanding Neighbors on Hill

The Beacon Hill Civic Association Young Professionals have recognized two individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community of Beacon Hill.

The Young Professionals Award was formally presented to Jason Winmill and Ingrid Calder in December 2012 by Meghan Haggerty, the group’s president.

The Beacon Hill Civic Association Young Professionals, a group composed of 22- to 40-year-old residents of Beacon Hill, offered this award for the first time in its history. This new award recognizes the dedication of two members who have played an essential leadership role in establishing, contributing to and growing the group.

“Both Jason and Ingrid have played a pivotal role in founding the Beacon Hill CivicAssociation Young Professionals and developing the group’s mission and activities,” said Haggerty. “We are excited to present this award to these two very dedicated members of our community. We look forward to making this award an annual event.”

Winmill is the founder of Argopoint LLC, a management consulting firm. He resides in Beacon Hill and is a graduate of Harvard Business School and Harvard College. He has been involved in numerous civic activities, including the Steering Committee of the Museum of Fine Arts.

Calder is the assistant to Dr. Akua Sarr, associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Boston College. She is a graduate of Boston College.

Founded in 2009, Beacon Hill Civic Association Young Professionals aims to foster community among the younger residents in the area and provide a voice for young people within the Beacon Hill Civic Association (BHCA). The Young Professionals host regular “Cocktails on the Hill” events, the popular annual “Summer White Party” and a number of other community-oriented events. Recently, the Young Professionals participated in the Civic Association’s holiday decorating.
