Susan Birkett, a resident of Charles River Square and a member of the Beacon Hill Garden Club, created a star-spangled window box in honor of Independence Day at the historic Charles Street Station post office. Beacon Hill Garden Club members, especially Birkett, regularly plant the window box, and the post office staff maintains it.
