Beacon Hill residents are invited to a summer evening filled with camaraderie and gourmet food at the opening night of the Boston Landmarks Orchestra on Wednesday, July 16, at DCR’s Hatch Shell on the Esplanade. Music Director Christopher Wilkins will lead the orchestra in Larry Bell’s adaptation of At the River (the orchestra’s unofficial anthem), honoring one of Boston’s most iconic concert settings, followed by On the Waterfront. After intermission, the Back Bay Chorale joins the One City Choir in Carmina burana- a meditation on love, nature, and fortune’s inescapable power.
The Beacon Hill Civic Association (BHCA) invites residents to begin the evening by meeting their friends and neighbors at a reception at the Firehouse, 127 Mount Vernon Street, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, courtesy of Toscano’s Restaurant. Guests may then pick up a pre-ordered box supper to carry to the Esplanade, where seating will be reserved. The concert will begin at 7 pm.
Chef Chris Spagnuolo, owner of Panificio, will once again prepare light box suppers. Guests may choose from a selection of tasty sandwiches on homemade bread. This year’s selection consists of Chicken Tarragon, Tuna Salad, BLT, Sicilian (prosciutto, tomato & mozzarella), Milano (tomato, mozzarella & basil) and Davio (portabella mushroom, eggplant, artichokes, pepperocinis & feta). The box suppers also include a bag of chips, homemade cookies, and a cold drink. Sandwich choices and box supper orders must be made in advance.
The cost of the reception, box supper and concert seating is $22 for BHCA members and $25 for non-members. Tickets to the reception and seats only are available for $8.
Reservations for seats and box suppers are required. Visit www.bhcivic.org or call 617.227.1922 by Monday, July 14. Guests are also welcome to bring their own blankets or chairs and enjoy the free concert beginning at 7pm.
The concert will be cancelled in the event of rain.
