An indoor cycling studio is one step closer to opening in the neighborhood after the Beacon Hill Civic Association board of directors voted last week not to oppose the necessary zoning for SoulCycle to open at 300 Cambridge St.
The New York City-based company, with 45 locations nationwide, intends to operate a new outpost on the ground floor of the building located between Grove Street and Strong Place. The applicant is seeking zoning relief, since the city’s zoning laws, which date back to the 1950s, didn’t anticipate the proposed business.
The board’s decision not to oppose is subject to an on-site abutter’s meeting sponsored by the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services on Thursday, July 23, at 5:45 p.m.
The matter is scheduled to go before the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals on Aug. 4.
