On Sunday, Oc. 23, the Esplanade Association, in partnership with Pawsh Boutique, will host their sixth annual “Canine Promenade” on Fiedler Field from noon to 2 p.m.
The Promenade is a 1/2‐mile Halloween costume parade around the Esplanade to benefit the park, highlight the park as a resource for dog owners and celebrate the fall season.
This year, the parade will be led by channel 7 News Anchor Sarah French, and over 100 dogs and pet owners are expected to participate. Following the parade, a panel of judges will be awarding prizes for best costume (dog) and best duet (human and duet). In addition to the costume parade there will be a variety of games, demos, and giveaways for attendees to enjoy, thanks to this year’s sponsors from Pawsh Boutique, 2 Dogs Treats, MSPCA, Pawblo Picasso, Pet Acupuncture Works, Petco, Pet Supplies Plus, Red Dog Spa, Slobbr, Boston Veterinary Clinic and Primal Pet Foods, as well as goodie bags for all attendees.
Funds raised at the event will go towards the restoration of the Esplanade’s historic Lotta Fountain, which was designed to serve as a gathering spot for park dogs and owners. The parade loop will pass by t she fountain, which is currently being worked on and is expected to be completed by November.
Whether you are a dog owner or just want to come and enjoy the event as a spectator, everyone is welcome to attend. In the spirit of the season, we encourage you to dress up your dogs (and yourself) in costume and join the Esplanade Association on Sunday for this fun and festive event.
