Hill Sees Spike in Residential Breaking and Entry

By Dan Murphy

Beacon Hill has seen an uptick in residential breaking-and-enterings in 2017, according to Boston Police.

Seven incidents have been reported in the neighborhood since Jan. 1, five of which in the first two weeks of February. Three took place during the daylight hours of Feb. 7, when the New England Patriots held their Super Bowl victory parade in Boston.

Police said the doors of homes were kicked in some incidents while elsewhere, the thieves presumably gained entry by “piggybacking,” or trailing behind residents entering their buildings.

Three delivery packages left outside Beacon Hill residences were also reported stolen so far this year, police said.
