James F. Seagle, Jr., president of Rogerson Communities and a recognized leader in the field of housing and services for elders, will give the keynote address at the BHCA’s 96th Annual Meeting and Reception to be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, May 21, at the Union Club, 8 Park Street.
In his presentation entitled ‘Yes in My Back Yard,’ Seagle will talk about the three properties Rogerson manages on Beacon Hill. In addition to the Beacon House, which offers 85 rent-subsidized and 32 rent-moderated apartments for persons age 55 and over, are the Peter Fanueil School, with 48 affordable apartments for low-income individuals and families, and the Joy Street Residence with 20 affordable apartments for low-income persons who are disabled by HIV/AIDS. Seagle, joined Rogerson Communities in 1973 and initiated its transition from managing the Beacon House, formerly a single rest home for older men, to the multidimensional organization it is today. Its scope includes management of 21 communities and five adult day programs that serve more than 1,500 families.
In addition to Seagle’s’ address, the meeting will include the presentation of the Beacon Award as well as the election of the association’s officers and directors for the 2018-2019 term.
Every year at its annual meeting, the Beacon Hill Civic Association names the winner of the Beacon Award, an annual community award that honors those people and groups deserving of particular recognition for their significant and sustained contributions to the Beacon Hill community. This year will mark the 21st year the award has been presented.
Each year BHCA officers and directors are elected to serve a one-year term. This year ??? have been nominated to serve as direrctors, including ??? for their first term.
