Dinner under the Stars on Beacon Hill set for September 27

Special to the Times

Some say the most special thing about living on Beacon Hill is the feeling of fellowship shared by its many residents. It is the friendly smiles, gentle hand shakes, casual conversations and happy waves from car windows as neighbors greet each other while passing by. And such fellowship is often found in special events which bring neighbors together for good times, fun and food. In 2013, several Beacon Hillers invited 150 neighbors to celebrate Harvest on the Hill, a dinner of locally-grown foods served on one long and elegantly-draped table on Chestnut Street. In 2022, 265 residents again dined at one long table this time on the flat of the Hill to celebrate Beacon Hill Civic Association’s 100th birthday.

On Saturday, September 27, Dinner under the Stars 2025 will take place on Mount Vernon Street between River and Brimmer streets. Sponsored by the BHCA, 275 neighbors will mingle at 6 pm for a cocktail-style party featuring wine, soft drinks, cheese boxes and passed hors d’oeuvres. And once again, from 7-9 pm guests will be seated around one long table. Guests may choose one of three gourmet dinner boxes containing either sliced flank steak, roasted salmon or grilled tofu, and paired with potato salad, grilled vegetables and house-made chocolates.

Throughout the evening festive background music will be provided by a Mariachi band. Guests are asked to dress in attire they consider suitable for wearing when dining in Charles Street restaurants.  Non-refundable tickets are $175 per person and proceeds will cover the cost of the event. A limited number of tickets are still available on a first come/first served basis. For more information and to purchase a ticket, visit bhcivic.org
