BHCA Votes for Restrictions on Retail Spaces

The Beacon Hill Civic Associ. (BHCA) board of directors voted unanimously last week to draft a letter to the city requesting tighter restrictions on “as of right” office uses on Cambridge Street and the south side of Charles Street.

BHCA Zoning and Licensing Committee co-chair Tom Clemens said the letter to the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) would endorse amending Boston Zoning Codes to limit code-compliant office usage in those parts of the neighborhood.

“We’re looking at the state of the neighborhood and changes that could save the vitality of those two streets,” Clemens said.
