Boston Parks and Recreation Denies Permission to Remove Tree

Amidst an unprecedented outpouring of letters and email opposing the measure, Boston Parks and Recreation Department Arborist Greg Mosman denied an application to remove a shade tree at 81 Myrtle St., said MaryLee Halpin, executive director of the Beacon Hill Civic Association  (BHCA).

The applicant had sought to remove one linden tree measuring 11 inches dbh (diameter at breast height) for a curb cut at the rear of the property facing Revere Street.

Halpin, who was in attendance at the Feb. 21 hearing, said 12 Hill residents were also on hand to voice their objections to the proposal.
