A motorcyclist who crashed on Storrow Drive on Wednesday has died of his injuries, and State Police are investigating the incident, Suffolk County
District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.
The single-vehicle collision took place yesterday at about 2:50 p.m. on Storrow Drive eastbound near the Bowker Overpass. Preliminary evidence suggests that the operator, a 35-year-old Brighton man, lost control of the motorcycle, striking a curb and then a pole. He was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital and succumbed to his injuries last night.
The Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit, which has jurisdiction over death investigations on State roadways within the City of Boston, is leading the investigation with Troop H investigators, the Crime Scene Services Section and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
The crash is the second fatality involving a motorcyclist on Storrow Drive in less than a month. On the night of Sept. 22, a 44-year-old Wakefield man struck a Jersey barrier near the Longfellow Bridge, suffering fatal injuries.
While the fatalities yesterday and last month are still being investigated, the evidence does not presently suggest that either one involved a second vehicle.
Investigators spoke with multiple witnesses near the scene, but anyone with additional information on last week’s crash or the September crash may call detectives at 617-727-8817.
