Boston’s greenspaces will soon shine a little brighter, with the addition of a second maintenance crew for city parks in fiscal ’16.
Ryan Woods, director of external affairs for the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, said the new crew, consisting of four or five employees, will work after regular hours and on weekends.
“We currently empty trash barrel on average of four or five times a day, but with constant foot traffic, they’re still overflowing,” Woods said.
The new crew will be stationed out of the Boston Common to best serve that site and the Public Garden, but Woods said it would be dispatched to parks citywide on emergency calls.
