Women’s Forum Kicks Off Third Year

By Suzanne Besser

Liana Cheney, a neighbor, art scholar and professor, captivated the audience of more than 50 women with a talk on female self-portraits from the 16th century to the present day at last week’s meeting of the Beacon Hill Women’s Forum.

Susan Symonds briefly introduced her business, Infinity Portrait Design, to members at the meeting, which kicked off the third year of monthly forums designed to inspire, connect and be enjoyed by women from Beacon Hill and surrounding neighborhoods.

In addition to the forums, each month the BHWF sponsors additional ways for members to connect. Cheney’s presentation will be followed with the a Women in Art private tour for members at the Museum of Fine Arts tomorrow, September 16, at 5:30 pm. The cost for the tour is $20 per person. Afterwards, tour-goers are welcome to dine together at the MFA’s acclaimed Bravo Restaurant.

On September 24, members are encouraged to join others at Feast with Friends, the first of monthly dinners, held at 6 p.m. at Panificio, 144 Charles Street. A $37 prix-fixe meal includes appetizer, salad, entrée and dessert.

Reservations for both events must be made in advance at beaconhillwomensforum.org. The annual membership fee is $60 ($40 for those under 30), and there is a $20 charge for each monthly meeting. A onetime guest pass is available for $40. Members may also choose to pay $200, which includes the annual membership fee and attendance at all monthly meetings.
