Bruce Kenneth Forbes of Boston passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 23 with loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Julia Middlebrook Forbes and devoted father of Heather Middlebrook Forbes; he was predeceased by his father, Richard Earl Forbes and mother, Phoebe Lorraine (MacDonald) Forbes.  He is survived by his brother, Allan Richard Forbes and Mae (Booth) Forbes and sister Janice (Forbes) and Harald Jonas; mother-in-law, Georgianna Leslie Middlebrook, sister-in-law, Leslie ( Middlebrook) and Lee Moore. He is also survived by a niece and several nephews: Evelyn ( Forbes) and Tripp Cone; Richard MacDonald Forbes, William Allan Forbes and Allan Bruce Forbes.

Bruce was Founder, President and CEO of ARCHIBUS, Inc., a successful company with an over 35-year history of technological innovation. He is credited with developing and deploying the world’s first integrated automation tools for Real Estate, Infrastructure and Facilities Management, designing the world’s 1st Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system, and pioneering work with energy and environmental sustainability issues.  Bruce was the first person in the world to simultaneously receive both a Bachelor of Architecture Degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Science. In 2008, he was inducted as an IFMA Fellow, having served on the Board and noting his remarkable 30+ year service to the profession.

In both his private and public lives, Bruce is known for his generosity of spirit, brilliant mind, energetic conversation, empathetic interest in everyone, and intent to make the world a better place.  He was actively involved in Park Street Church, serving on the Missions Committee for many years. He volunteered with numerous school-based groups throughout his daughter’s elementary, middle and high school years. He loved being active in the Charles River Park Community, which was his home for over 30 years.
