Postal Worker Helps Police Thwart Package Thief

By Dan Murphy

An observant postal worker led officers to a thief who was seen stealing delivery packages on Beacon Hill, Boston Police said.

On April 7, at around 1 p.m., the mailman flagged down officers on detail in the neighborhood after witnessing the suspect steal a package from a doorway in the Mt. Vernon Street area. The postal worker then followed the suspect on Revere Street and confronted him, at which time the suspect pushed him out of the way and fled.

Officers caught up with the suspect at Grove and Revere streets, where he was found in possession of several packages that didn’t belong to him.

The suspect, who also had two active warrants, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property.
