Beacon Hill resident Julia Karol was recently appointed president and COO of the Watermill Group, a Lexington-based strategy-driven, private-investment firm.
In her new role, Karol is responsible for overall fir operations and helping Watermill portfolio companies develop and implement their strategies. Previously, as a Watermill principal, she helped guide the day-to-day operations of the firm, directed the firm’s investor relations and managed fundraising initiatives for acquisitions.
Prior to joining Watermill, Karol worked at Jumpstart, a national education nonprofit. She received a master’s in education policy, organization and leadership from Stanford University, completed the Summer Institute for Entrepreneurship at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and earned a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University. She is a member of Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), and is part of the 2017 class of Harvard Business School’s Owners, Presidents and Managers Program.
Karol grew up on Beacon Hill, and continues to reside in the neighborhood with her dog Dash. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, skiing and hiking.
