Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) are proud to announce Boston Troop 65321 as its 2018 Top Cookie Selling Troop! The girls (who range from grades K-8), sold 12,049 packages of Girl Scout Cookies, with four girls selling more than 1,000 cookies each.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program, the largest girl-run business in the world, teaches girls essential life skills, including goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. Troop 65321 is donating part its cookie proceeds to Massachusetts First Lady Lauren Baker’s Wonderfund, supporting local children in the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. The remaining cookie proceeds will go towards funding a 2020 travel adventure to the Girl Scouts Lodges in London and Switzerland, and into a troop account for general programming.
“These determined Boston girls used teamwork, goal-setting, and the good old-fashioned hard-work ethic of Girl Scouts, to earn the top troop spot in this year’s Cookie Program,” said GSEMA Chief Executive Officer Denise Burgess. “The bigger picture is that selling cookies helps girls build courage, confidence, and character, so they can grow into independent young women who take healthy risks, make positive decisions, manage challenges, and stand up for their beliefs.”
By qualifying for the most per-troop cookie sales, Troop 65321 earned an additional $0.05 per package sold.
