Block Captain Program
returning to Beacon Hill!
The BHCA has been working with the Streets & Sidewalks Committee to revive the Block Captain program as a way to address quality of life concerns and encourage a communal sense of respect for the neighborhood, and we’d like you to be a part of it!
Beacon Hill is full of charm with its brick sidewalks, gas lamps, historic architecture, quaint shops and friendly neighbors. However, there can be a disconnect between these elements and individuals’ action to clean up after their pets, water new trees, or pick up trash left behind after garbage day.
Keeping our neighborhood clean and beautiful needs the combined strength of many individual actions, so we are looking for volunteers and Block Captains.
Block Captains would:
• work with volunteers in their area
• keep an eye on their block
• report missing bricks or other issues to 311
• welcome new neighbors with information about BHCA generally and specifically on how to keep Beacon Hill clean
• participate in regular walk-abouts to pick up trash
But it’s not all about clean-up – our Block Captains and volunteers will also be an important part of Holiday Decorating and Undecorating – celebrating the season working with neighbors and friends – and other neighborhood events.
If you have time to give, and interest in sharing your love of Beacon Hill, please fill out the sign-up form on our website or in today’s BHCA newsletter. You can also call the office at 617-227-1922 and we can send you the form.
