In what feels like a never-ending relocation game along Beacon Hill’s main thoroughfare, Dress Boston, the upscale women’s clothing boutique, will soon become the latest to leapfrog a few doors away, moving from 70 Charles Street to 62 Charles.
According to co-owner Martha Pickett, the move can’t come soon enough as the store will double its footprint, allowing for a wider selection of carefully selected designer duds, including looks from Johanna Ortiz, Altuzarra, LESET, SPRWMN, and Still Here.
Pickett, who founded the shop with childhood friend Jane Schlueter in 2005 on Newbury Street, could not be happier to stay on the Hill. “We didn’t [even] consider looking elsewhere…because this neighborhood is home to us. Beacon Hill is a wonderfully warm, tight-knit community in the heart of the city. Its beauty and charm are unsurpassed. We are very grateful to have landed here and to have become a part of a neighborhood that values and supports all the wonderful, independent, local businesses that help make it the special place that it is.”
For the new site, the duo selected Beacon Hill-based interior designer, Nina Farmer, to create the right look, noting that her style – elegant, comfortable, and timeless — are all sensibilities they consider when creating their assortment of clothing and accessories.
In addition to a bigger, brighter space, and a broader product line, customers can look forward to a few more dressing rooms. But Pinkett notes that happily, “there will be no change to our amazing sales staff. Visitors will be greeted by all of the same familiar faces — some of whom have been with us for about a decade, if not longer — as well as a few special new ones!”
